KASAMA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL CONCLUDES CIVIC CALENDAR WITH FINAL FULL COUNCIL MEETING

Kasama Municipal Council on Thursday, 14th May 2026 held its final Full Council Meeting ahead of the dissolution of Parliament and Local Government on Friday, 15th May 2026, marking the official end of the 2021–2026 Civic Calendar.

Chairing the meeting, His Worship the Mayor of Kasama, Mr. BYWELL SIMPOSYA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Councillors, Council Management and members of staff for the cooperation, dedication and professionalism rendered to the Local Authority throughout the five-year period. The Mayor described the team as exceptional and thanked them for the unwavering support accorded to him during his tenure in office.

Meanwhile, the Acting Town Clerk, Mr. Innocent Mutambo, highlighted the significance of the Revised Cash for Work Initiative in his report, noting that the programme is expected to positively impact many communities across the district through enhanced community participation and economic empowerment.

Mr. Mutambo further disclosed that the Local Authority is in the process of acquiring land through partnering with traditional leaders for various developmental and institutional purposes aimed at improving service delivery in Kasama District.

Delivering his final remarks, the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Felix K. Musonda, echoed the Mayor’s sentiments on the importance of unity and cooperation between Councillors, Council Management and staff, stating that such collaboration had contributed greatly to the smooth operations of the Council.

And speaking on behalf of fellow Councillors, Lukupa Ward Councillor, Hon. Elias Musonda, reflected on the honour and privilege of serving the people of Kasama during the 2021–2026 term. He further wished all outgoing Civic Leaders good health and success in their future endeavours.

The meeting marked a significant moment in the history of Kasama Municipal Council as the curtain falls on the current civic leadership term.
