On 1st July 2026, the Acting Northern Province Permanent Secretary Beauty Undi Phiri officially handed over K5.4 million in 2026 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Empowerment Grants to 136 community clubs and groups drawn from Kasama Central and Lukashya Constituencies.
The empowerment grants are aimed at supporting sustainable income-generating activities, creating employment opportunities, and improving household livelihoods in line with Government’s decentralisation and economic transformation agenda.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Acting Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Government’s commitment to empowering communities through the enhanced CDF, emphasizing that the programme is transforming lives by enabling local people to establish and expand businesses that contribute to the growth of the district and the national economy.
The beneficiaries were encouraged to utilise the funds responsibly and ensure their projects become successful and sustainable for the benefit of their families and communities.
